APINDO Tapin Calls for Halal Certification to Avoid Burdening MSMEs

RANTAU – The Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) of Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan Province, has urged the government to expand assistance and simplify access to halal certification to ensure that the policy does not place an undue burden on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

APINDO Tapin Secretary Fahrin Rizali said halal certification should not be viewed merely as a regulatory obligation, but also as an opportunity for businesses to strengthen consumer confidence and expand their product markets.

“Policies intended to improve competitiveness should not end up becoming obstacles to business growth,” Fahrin said in Rantau, Tapin Regency, on Monday.

He explained that the implementation of halal certification should be accompanied by education and mentoring, particularly for micro and small businesses that need assistance in meeting the requirements.

“Local governments need to work in synergy with the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), halal product process assistance institutions, and business organizations to expand public awareness and provide technical assistance,” he said.

In addition, Fahrin said the government should optimize free halal certification programs for eligible MSMEs, giving more business owners the opportunity to obtain certification.

Fahrin added that APINDO Tapin was ready to serve as a bridge between the government and the business community, helping disseminate information and broaden access to halal certification assistance.

“Halal certification can provide added value to MSME products in Tapin by improving quality, expanding market access, and strengthening competitiveness, thereby contributing to regional economic growth,” he said.
