The Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), in collaboration with Sucor Asset Management, has once again demonstrated its social commitment by delivering humanitarian assistance to communities affected by flash floods and landslides in Lubuk Sidup Village, Sekerak Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province, on Thursday (February 12).
This marks the fourth wave of humanitarian assistance distributed by APINDO. On this occasion, Sucor provided aid valued at Rp2 billion, allocated to three affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
The assistance consisted of essential supplies, including bedding such as mattresses and blankets, cooking equipment, and home and yard cleaning tools such as wheelbarrows and hoes.
In the first wave of aid, APINDO collaborated with the Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) to distribute 2,400 units of gas stoves complete with hoses and regulators. Subsequently, APINDO raised Rp500 million in cash donations, which were channeled through the provincial boards of APINDO in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The assistance primarily included staple food supplies and personal necessities for affected residents.
During the third wave, APINDO partnered with Coca-Cola Euro Pacific Partners Indonesia to provide scholarships worth €50,000 (approximately Rp974 million) for students impacted by the disaster at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Universitas Andalas.
APINDO Executive Director Rudolf Saut Butarbutar emphasized that the assistance reflects the business community’s solidarity.
“APINDO believes that the business sector not only plays a role in driving economic growth, but must also be present and contribute when communities are in need. Through collaboration with Sucor Asset Management and the Indonesian Red Cross, as well as support from APINDO’s regional leadership, we are committed to ensuring that assistance is delivered effectively and provides tangible benefits for community recovery, including for the people of Aceh Tamiang,” he said.
Rudolf added that APINDO distributed aid packages containing essential supplies and recovery-support equipment, ranging from gas stoves and related accessories, mattresses and blankets, to work tools such as shovels and wheelbarrows.
“This assistance is designed not only to meet urgent needs, but also to help residents gradually resume activities and restore their economic livelihoods,” he explained.
He further emphasized that APINDO stands ready to carry out the mandate of Prabowo Subianto, conveyed during a meeting with APINDO leadership in Hambalang on February 9, to continue creating employment opportunities, including in Aceh, in order to accelerate recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, Chairman of APINDO Aceh Province, H. Ramli, stated that APINDO’s presence in disaster-affected areas reflects genuine concern and solidarity with the people of Aceh Tamiang.
“We from APINDO stand together with you. This is our expression of care and love for the people of Aceh Tamiang. We share your feelings. Though we may be far in distance, we are close at heart,” he said.
He affirmed that APINDO Aceh, together with the National Board of APINDO, remains committed to providing sincere and sustained support, particularly to help communities rebuild their lives ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
