Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (APINDO) Kalimantan Utara Holds Musprov II, Reelects Peter Setiawan as Chairman

TARAKAN – A warm and spirited atmosphere marked the 2nd Provincial Conference (Musprov II) of the North Kalimantan Provincial Board of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Tarakan Plaza Hotel.

Carrying the central theme “APINDO’s Role in Enhancing Investment and Economic Growth in North Kalimantan,” Musprov II began with a report from Organizing Committee Chair Yanuar, S.Sos., who emphasized that the forum represents an organizational mandate under the association’s statutes and bylaws to evaluate the previous leadership’s performance and set policy directions for the next five years.

“We sincerely express our appreciation for the active participation of business stakeholders across North Kalimantan who contributed to every stage of the Musprov II proceedings,” Yanuar stated.

Representing the National Leadership Board (DPN) of APINDO, Head of Organizational Affairs Anthony Hilman, accompanied by APINDO Executive Director Rudolf Saut, presented data underscoring optimism for North Kalimantan’s economic prospects. The province recorded economic growth of 4.56 percent in 2025, reflecting a relatively resilient regional economy amid national and global uncertainties.

On the labor front, North Kalimantan’s open unemployment rate (TPT) stood at 3.85 percent in 2025, lower than the national average of 4.85 percent. Additionally, the proportion of informal sector workers declined from 51.38 percent in 2023 to 48.44 percent in 2025, indicating improvements in job quality and formal employment across the province, known as Bumi Benuanta.

Anthony also highlighted North Kalimantan’s strategic position not only as a national economic gateway but also as the site of major industrial developments, including the Green Industrial Park Indonesia (KIHI) and the Kalimantan Industrial Park Indonesia (KIPI). Both projects are expected to serve as key drivers of investment growth, job creation, and sustainable industrial development in the region.

“The National Board of APINDO is committed to supporting North Kalimantan’s progress. Our major challenge is expanding employment absorption. With the province’s strategic position and green industrial development, regional APINDO must be bold in removing investment bottlenecks to ensure that this significant potential translates into tangible welfare gains for the people,” Anthony affirmed.

During the main agenda of Musprov II, the forum unanimously reappointed Peter Setiawan as Chairman of APINDO North Kalimantan for the 2026–2031 term. In his remarks following the decision, Peter emphasized that his second mandate represents a call to strengthen synergy and adaptability amid evolving regulations and global economic challenges.

“This second term is a call to reinforce synergy. APINDO must stand as a strategic partner to the government in creating a conducive and adaptive business climate. Our focus is to ensure that every incoming investment delivers real impact, particularly in empowering MSMEs and generating sustainable employment opportunities for the people of North Kalimantan,” he stated.

In addition to the chairmanship election, Musprov II produced several strategic recommendations through the Organizational Commission and Work Program Commission sessions. The event concluded with the official inauguration of the new leadership and the ceremonial handover of the APINDO flag, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for North Kalimantan’s business community toward a more resilient, inclusive, and self-reliant regional economy.
