DPN–DPP APINDO Town Hall Discusses Latest Advocacy Developments on the Employment Bill

In an effort to strengthen communication, organizational consolidation, and a common approach in advancing the national employment agenda, the National Executive Board (DPN) of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), together with APINDO Provincial Executive Boards (DPP) across Indonesia, held an online Town Hall Meeting on Friday (August 14, 2026), focusing on the latest developments in advocacy for the Employment Bill.

The forum was attended by APINDO Chairman Shinta W. Kamdani; DPN APINDO Head of Employment Affairs Bob Azam; Deputy Chairman for Employment Affairs Darwoto; Chairman of the Wage Committee Subchan Gatot; Chairman of the Regulatory and Institutional Relations Committee Myra M. Hanartani; DPN APINDO Employment Affairs PMO Joko Baroto; and DPN APINDO Executive Director Rudolf Saut, together with representatives of APINDO’s provincial leadership across Indonesia.

As a forum for communication and organizational consolidation, the Town Hall provided a platform to present updates on APINDO’s advocacy efforts concerning the Employment Bill, align understanding among organizational levels, and gather perspectives from the regions. Such consolidation has become increasingly important as APINDO continues its advocacy efforts and engagement with various stakeholders.

APINDO Chairman Shinta W. Kamdani emphasized the importance of maintaining a unified direction and strengthening collaboration across all elements of APINDO in advancing the employment agenda. The effort forms part of APINDO’s commitment to encouraging a constructive regulatory drafting process that addresses the needs of the labor market while supporting the broader national economy.

Meanwhile, DPN APINDO Head of Employment Affairs Bob Azam outlined the progress of APINDO’s advocacy efforts, including intensive dialogue and communication with trade unions and workers’ unions. The collaboration forms part of efforts to identify common ground and promote the joint formulation of the Employment Bill, based on good faith, meaningful participation, and a balanced approach between worker protection and business sustainability.

As part of the process, APINDO has established communication with various confederations and federations of trade unions and workers’ unions. This social dialogue approach is aimed at developing provisions that can be jointly accepted while strengthening the contributions of both the business community and workers to the national employment legislative process.

Several strategic issues were also discussed, including the strengthening of social dialogue and legal certainty. Input from APINDO’s provincial leadership across Indonesia further enriched the discussion by taking into account the specific characteristics of different sectors and employment challenges in each region.

Through the Town Hall, APINDO continues to strengthen internal consolidation while maintaining dialogue with stakeholders to advance the Employment Bill in a constructive and data-driven manner, guided by a spirit of collaboration. The effort is aimed at promoting regulations that provide legal certainty, strengthen worker protection, and support the sustainability and competitiveness of the business community.
