Apindo Kepri Urges Immediate Implementation of Comprehensive FTZ

Batam – The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) of Riau Islands Province (Kepri) has expressed its appreciation for Governor Ansar Ahmad and Deputy Governor Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, noting their responsiveness in maintaining a conducive business climate during their first 100 days in office.

Apindo observed that the provincial government under the leadership of Ansar and Nyanyang has shown a cooperative stance in facilitating business licensing processes by serving as a bridge between local entrepreneurs and the central government.

"Everything is going smoothly. They have been quite cooperative. Whenever we encounter issues, we communicate them, and they help mediate with the central government," said Apindo Kepri Chairman Stanly Rocky on Tuesday (June 10).

Looking ahead, Apindo Kepri hopes that Governor Ansar and Deputy Governor Nyanyang will soon realize the implementation of a comprehensive Free Trade Zone (FTZ) covering Tanjungpinang City, Bintan Regency, and Karimun Regency.

"If the FTZ is fully implemented, it will stimulate economic growth across the Riau Islands. We sincerely hope this can be realized soon," Rocky concluded.

Meanwhile, public policy analyst Alfiandri stated that the first 100 days of the Ansar-Nyanyang administration have shown several noteworthy public policy initiatives that deserve recognition as constructive early steps.

He highlighted the government’s maritime transport subsidy policy as a sign of its commitment to improving regional connectivity and ensuring equitable access across the province. According to him, this is a tangible policy that addresses the fundamental needs of residents in remote island areas.

"The development of Public Service Malls (MPP) in various cities and regencies, as well as educational assistance and scholarship programs for Kepri students, are also commendable initiatives," he added.

Nonetheless, Alfiandri noted that most of these policies are still in their early stages of implementation. He emphasized the importance of continuity, accountable monitoring, and community involvement in evaluation processes to ensure these policies sustainably and inclusively meet public needs.

"We also hope the Kepri provincial government will strengthen structural reforms in bureaucracy, fiscal transparency, and public participation in policymaking to foster better governance in the future," he concluded.
