APINDO Batu City Calls for Bureaucratic Reform and Stronger Regional Economy

BATU, East Java – The Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) of Batu City has expressed hope that Batu City Regional Secretary Alfi Nurhidayat will become a key driver of an adaptive bureaucracy while strengthening the investment climate and regional economic growth.
The Regional Secretary is considered to play a strategic role in ensuring that government administration remains aligned with the development vision of Mayor Nurochman and Deputy Mayor Heli Suyanto for the 2025–2030 term.
Chairman of APINDO Batu City Suryo Widodo said the Regional Secretary’s role extends beyond coordinating regional government agencies. The position also serves as a bridge between the government, the public and the business community.
“We hope the Regional Secretary can become a driving force for a professional and responsive bureaucracy and ensure that all development programs are implemented effectively, delivering tangible benefits to both the community and the business sector,” he said on Thursday (July 16, 2026).
According to Suryo, one of the priorities requiring attention is improving the quality of public services. Government administrative procedures are expected to become faster, simpler and more transparent, providing greater certainty for the public and investors seeking to invest in Batu City.
“In addition, we believe coordination among institutions within the Batu City Government needs to be continuously strengthened. Synergy among regional government agencies is essential to ensure that the regional head’s priority programs are implemented on time, targeted effectively and do not operate in isolation,” he added.
Suryo noted that Batu City’s economy is supported by several key sectors, including tourism, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), horticultural agriculture and the creative economy. Government policies, therefore, are expected to create a conducive business climate that allows these sectors to continue growing.
“We also hope that governance will become increasingly clean, accountable and free from corruption, collusion and nepotism. Legal certainty and good governance will strengthen business confidence and encourage companies to continue investing in Batu City,” he said.
Meanwhile, the director of Jatim Park 3 also called for improvements in the welfare of civil servants, accompanied by stronger discipline and professional standards. Such measures, he said, would have a direct impact on the quality of public services received by the community.
“Beyond that, infrastructure development and urban planning should also remain government priorities, while upholding the principles of sustainability and environmental preservation,” he stressed.
Given that Batu City is a tourism-oriented destination that relies heavily on its natural beauty as a key attraction, Suryo said the Regional Secretary should serve as a bridge for public aspirations, remain open to input from various stakeholders, and respond swiftly to emerging issues.
“With strong and collaborative leadership, we are optimistic that Batu City’s bureaucracy can continue to improve and support sustainable regional economic growth,” he concluded.
