Apindo Central Java: 1,400 Factories to Mentor Participants in National Internship Program

Semarang – At least 1,400 industrial enterprises affiliated with the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Central Java are preparing facilities to accommodate participants of the National Internship Program initiated by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker).

Chairman of Apindo Central Java, Frans Kongi, stated that the business community across the province welcomes the Ministry’s initiative, which opens internship opportunities for fresh graduates nationwide.

He noted that the private sector has long collaborated with educational institutions, making this program a natural continuation of existing partnerships.

“For a long time, the business sector and educational institutions have been working hand in hand. Internship programs for university students are nothing new for us. Therefore, linking university graduates with industry needs through this national internship program is a very positive step,” said Frans.

Apindo, he added, has frequently initiated internship programs in collaboration with both public and private universities to enhance students’ understanding of industrial practices. Thus, the concept of internships for fresh graduates is not new to business players.

Apindo Central Java is currently preparing mentors to accompany fresh graduate interns during their placements in factories and companies.

“We’re very pleased to welcome them. We’ll assign mentors to guide the interns for six months, in line with the agreement with the Ministry of Manpower. If they perform well and adapt to the work environment, companies may consider hiring them afterward,” Frans explained.

He further mentioned that nearly all companies, particularly those in labor-intensive industries, as well as banks across Central Java, are ready to take on interns.

Industries opening their doors include pharmaceuticals, garments, woodworking, manufacturing, and banking.

When asked about the number of interns needed per company, Frans said the demand varies widely.

“The demand for interns is highly varied, depending on the sector. We’ll let the Ministry decide how to allocate participants. What’s important is that the distribution is even and not concentrated in one area. In essence, we’re ready to support the government,” he said.
