Governor Anwar Hafid Urges APINDO to Serve as Liaison Between Investors and Central Sulawesi Government

Central Sulawesi – Investors interested in doing business in Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) need not hesitate. Governor of Central Sulawesi, Drs. Anwar Hafid, has pledged to facilitate all licensing processes and provide solutions to any obstacles faced by investors.

“If there’s no land, we’ll find it. If there are licensing issues, we’ll help take care of them. Bring your investors to Central Sulawesi to meet with me and the Deputy Governor—we’ll make things easier for them,” said Anwar Hafid, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Reny Lamadjido, during a courtesy meeting with the APINDO Central Sulawesi delegation led by Wijaya Chandra on Thursday (April 17, 2025).

Governor Anwar Hafid also expressed strong support for an initiative introduced by APINDO Central Sulawesi Chair Wijaya Chandra—the establishment of a vocational school focused on mechanical engineering in Palu. According to Wijaya, the school will collaborate with China’s leading heavy equipment manufacturer.

Governor Anwar emphasized that APINDO’s initiative aligns with his provincial development agenda, Sulteng Nambaso—which promotes courage and intelligence. He hopes that the vocational school will help reduce unemployment, noting that the provincial government will cover the costs of internship programs (Prakerin) for students.

“One of the key barriers has been the high cost of internships, making vocational education less attractive. We must solve this issue so that vocational school graduates can secure jobs aligned with their skills,” Governor Anwar explained.

During the meeting, APINDO Chairman Wijaya also raised concerns about the lack of adequate seaport infrastructure in Morowali, which has led to inflated construction material prices.

To address the issue, Wijaya called for the development of a seaport capable of accommodating cargo ships, including container vessels. In response, Governor Anwar noted that such a proposal had long been submitted during his tenure as Regent of Morowali.

He added that the presence of PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Morowali was also the result of his proactive efforts while serving as regent. “At the time, I told them: build the project first, and we’ll take care of the licensing later,” he recalled, stressing that investors should not be subjected to unnecessary obstacles.

With PT IMIP already established in the region, Governor Anwar challenged APINDO Central Sulawesi to help meet the basic needs of the company using local resources.

“I’ve already met with company leaders to encourage local economic empowerment. We cannot let everything be supplied from outside Central Sulawesi,” he stated firmly.

The Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO) of Central Sulawesi is scheduled to hold its 4th Provincial Congress (Musprov) on May 6–7, 2025.

The congress will culminate in a special dialogue session featuring national APINDO Chairwoman Shinta W. Kamdani alongside Governor Anwar Hafid.

During the recent audience with the Governor and Deputy Governor, the APINDO Central Sulawesi delegation was led by Chairman Wijaya Chandra, accompanied by board members Muhammad Ikbal, Gusti Ayu, Awaludin, Ito L., Ricky Tjui, Hj. Asnaniah, Musafir, and Yamin Yunus.
