Economic Growth Rises 5.23 Percent, APINDO Bandung Praises City Government’s Performance

The Chairman of the Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (APINDO) Bandung City Chapter, Ahmad Kosim Asmari, has expressed full support for the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026).

According to him, the economic census is expected to provide clearer direction for future economic policies and development strategies.

“As business actors, APINDO certainly hopes the government will not make mistakes in issuing policies, because incorrect policies would negatively affect companies’ conditions,” Ahmad Kosim Asmari said.

He emphasized that the census results must serve as a reference for the government in determining policy directions, particularly regarding employee wages.

“The success of the Economic Census depends on valid and honest data,” he added.

He also called on all residents to actively participate in ensuring the success of the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) by providing accurate information.

All regional agencies and community groups, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Bandung, are encouraged to take part in the census process.

“Every piece of information is crucial in shaping this city’s economic development,” he said.

It is worth noting that the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Bandung City Office has confirmed that the 2026 Economic Census will take place from May 1 to July 31, 2026. The census will be conducted digitally as well as through direct visits.

The data collection will cover businesses ranging from large enterprises to household-scale operations, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate picture of the regional economy as a basis for policymaking.

Bandung’s Economy Grows 5.23 Percent

On a separate note, Ahmad Kosim expressed appreciation for the Bandung City Government under the leadership of Mayor Muhammad Farhan, which has succeeded in raising economic growth to 5.23 percent at the beginning of 2026.

Although challenges remain, he said the achievement brings positive momentum to the city’s economic conditions.

“This level of economic growth is certainly beneficial for the business climate in Bandung. Companies play a major role in contributing to regional revenue, enabling economic growth to rise above 5 percent,” Ahmad Kosim stated.

He added that rising economic growth must translate into increased income and profitability for companies.

Economic growth, he said, should strengthen purchasing power and stimulate higher demand for goods and services, ultimately generating stronger sales and profits.

“Business expansion opportunities should also become greater. A positive economic environment makes it easier for companies to expand operations, open new branches, or launch new products. Under these conditions, companies will be able to recruit new employees,” he explained.

According to data from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Bandung City, economic growth in Bandung is projected to exceed 5 percent, supported by various macroeconomic indicators that have shown positive trends since 2025.
