Apindo Kotim Chairman Urges Community to Maintain Peaceful and Conducive Atmosphere

SAMPIT – The Chairman of the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo) in East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, Siswanto, called on the local community to work together in maintaining a safe and conducive environment.

“I urge the people of East Kotawaringin not to be provoked by hoaxes or divisive issues that can disrupt social harmony,” Siswanto said in Sampit on Sunday.

His statement came in response to mass demonstrations in several regions of Indonesia that escalated into unwanted incidents, resulting in damage and losses.

Siswanto, who also serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Plantation Companies Association (GPPI) for East Kotawaringin, Seruyan, and Katingan, expressed hope that similar incidents would not occur in his region.

He acknowledged that expressing aspirations is a natural part of democracy but emphasized that it must be done in accordance with regulations. “Do not let aspirations be conveyed in ways that violate the law or cause damage,” he said.

According to Siswanto, maintaining a safe and conducive atmosphere is crucial for all parties. It allows governance, society, businesses, and other sectors to function properly, ultimately contributing to regional progress and community welfare.

A peaceful environment is also vital for investment and economic growth. “If everything runs smoothly without disturbances, it will have a positive impact on the economy and people’s well-being,” he noted.

Siswanto, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Central Kalimantan, expressed his appreciation to the police, military, local government, and other institutions that continue to work hand-in-hand with the business community to create security and stability.

He further stressed that community involvement is essential in maintaining a safe atmosphere. “Without public participation, this goal would be difficult to achieve. We are grateful that residents remain vigilant, which is why East Kotawaringin has continued to enjoy peace and stability,” Siswanto concluded.
