APINDO Promotes Worker Homeownership through the “Ayo Punya Rumah”, an Initiative in Partnership with BTN

APINDO, in collaboration with Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), held a Members Gathering event titled “Ayo Punya Rumah” on Friday, November 14, 2025, at SMK Mitra Industri MM2100.

Attendees included APINDO’s Chairperson Shinta W. Kamdani, APINDO’s Vice Chairperson Sanny Iskandar, BTN’s President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu, APINDO’s Head of Labor Affairs Darwoto, Principal of SMK Mitra Industri MM2100 Lispiyatmini, and representatives from various APINDO Regional Chapters, including APINDO DKI Jakarta, APINDO West Java, and APINDO Banten.

In her speech, APINDO Chairperson Shinta W. Kamdani urged workers to take full advantage of the housing finance program, specifically the Mortgage Credit (KPR) offered by Bank BTN through the “Ayo Punya Rumah” initiative. She emphasized that this program is not merely a financing facility but a cornerstone of worker welfare, as it provides easy access to financing and information through the FLPP scheme, offering a low interest rate of 5% flat for 20 years and a down payment starting from 1%.

Shinta explained that the housing backlog in Indonesia remains significant, with the FLPP scheme only addressing a small fraction of the national need. Therefore, it is crucial to accelerate progress through collaboration between the business sector, government, and financial institutions. She stressed that homeownership for workers is not just a social policy but also an economic strategy, as the housing sector drives the industrial supply chain and enhances labor productivity.

APINDO, Shinta stated, will continue to push for collaboration with BTN as part of a tripartite synergy to ensure industrial workers have access to homeownership, thereby strengthening both their welfare and the national economy.

BTN’s President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu highlighted that Indonesia faces a housing backlog of 9.9 million units, with approximately 19 million homes still categorized as uninhabitable. He also drew attention to health issues, such as the high incidence of tuberculosis (TBC) which places Indonesia second in the world, and the widespread practice of open defecation due to inadequate sanitation. These conditions, Nixon noted, demonstrate that the challenges of development go beyond housing provision, but also encompass the overall improvement of quality of life.

To address these issues, the government has introduced the Environmental-Based Housing and Financing Program (RBLBP) to expand access to adequate housing for the population. Nixon explained that homeownership programs for workers allow them to secure decent housing at affordable costs, offering not only stability but also the opportunity to build long-term assets that enhance overall welfare.

APINDO’s Vice Chairperson of Labor Affairs, Darwoto, emphasized that APINDO encourages workers to plan for homeownership early in their careers. He urged workers to take advantage of various financing schemes available, including the “Ayo Miliki Rumah Bersama BTN dan APINDO” program, as a concrete step towards helping workers secure affordable, quality housing, which will serve as the foundation for their families’ future.

Darwoto further underlined APINDO’s commitment to expanding housing access for workers, noting that secure and comfortable homeownership directly contributes to increased productivity, stability, and overall well-being. He added that APINDO is conducting outreach on homeownership programs in MM2100 to reach industrial workers and communities in the area. Looking ahead, he hopes these outreach efforts will expand through continued collaboration with APINDO’s regional Board.
