Partnering with APINDO, Governor Andra Soni Unveils Strategy to Curb Unemployment in Banten
Tuesday, 21 October 2025
Serang – The Provincial Government of Banten continues its efforts to reduce the region’s relatively high unemployment rate. On Monday (October 20, 2025), Banten Governor Andra Soni welcomed representatives from the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) Banten Chapter at the Banten State Building on Brigjen KH. Syam’un Street, Serang City, to discuss strategic collaborative measures between the government and the business community.
During the meeting, Governor Andra Soni expressed his appreciation for APINDO’s concrete initiatives and policy concepts aimed at helping the regional government tackle unemployment.
“I thank APINDO for presenting a well-conceived framework that provides us with insights on policies to reduce unemployment in Banten,” said Andra.
The governor acknowledged that despite Banten’s approximately 20 industrial zones and thousands of companies, unemployment remains a serious challenge.
To address this, the provincial government plans to collaborate with APINDO through the APINDO Daya Movement, a program focused on community empowerment and enhancing the competitiveness of local workers.
“We want Banten’s people to be competitive in the job market and assured of employment, since the users—the industries—are already here. This is a crucial synergy,” he added.
Meanwhile, APINDO Banten Chairperson Tomy Rachmatullah welcomed the partnership, affirming the organization’s commitment to working hand in hand with the provincial government to reduce unemployment and create new job opportunities.
“We will implement several programs, including digital marketing affiliate training and soft-skill development through vocational initiatives,” Tomy explained.
In addition to workforce training, APINDO is introducing the Bina Desa Mandiri (Independent Village Development) program, which will designate one village in each city or regency across Banten as a pilot project.
Through this initiative, APINDO and local governments will work together to stimulate rural economies and reduce unemployment rates.
Furthermore, APINDO plans to provide career education and workplace readiness training for students in Banten, preparing them to meet the demands of modern industries.
“We aim to equip young people with the skills truly required by industry—both technical expertise and professional attitude,” Tomy concluded.
