Ir. H. Andi Islamuddin Sulaiman, Chairman of the Bulukumba Regency Board of the Indonesian Employers Association (DPK APINDO Bulukumba), has called on residents to attend and celebrate the 16th Pinisi Festival, scheduled to take place from October 15 to 17, 2026.
The invitation reflects support for a cultural festival that has become one of the key tourism events on the calendar of Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. Andi Islamuddin expressed hope that residents would contribute to the success of the event by attending in person and enjoying the festival's various activities.
He emphasized that public participation was essential to creating a vibrant festival atmosphere while strengthening community solidarity in preserving local cultural heritage.
"Let us come together to celebrate the 16th Pinisi Festival. This is not merely a celebration, but also an opportunity to demonstrate our pride in Bulukumba's culture and identity," Andi Islamuddin said.
Pinisi Festival: An Opportunity to Promote Bulukumba's Cultural Heritage
The 16th Pinisi Festival is scheduled to run for three days, from October 15 to 17, 2026. The event provides an opportunity to showcase Bulukumba's rich cultural heritage to a wider audience while enhancing the region's appeal as a tourist destination.
As Chairman of APINDO Bulukumba, Andi Islamuddin is also expected to encourage greater participation from local businesses in supporting regional tourism initiatives.
Festival attendance can create economic opportunities for local businesses, including those in the culinary, retail, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sectors. However, the actual economic impact will depend on visitor numbers, business participation, and the level of commercial activity throughout the event.
The public appeal is expected to encourage greater community involvement in the successful staging of the 16th Pinisi Festival. Support from residents extends beyond attendance to include maintaining cleanliness, public order, and a comfortable environment throughout the event.
The festival offers the people of Bulukumba an opportunity to preserve their cultural heritage while introducing the region's potential to visitors from outside the area.
With the event scheduled for October 15–17, 2026, residents are encouraged to set aside time to attend the various activities featured in the 16th Pinisi Festival.
In addition to serving as Chairman of DPK APINDO Bulukumba, Andi Islamuddin Sulaiman has also begun attracting attention in local political circles. He has reportedly emerged as a potential candidate for leadership of the Bulukumba Regency chapter of the Indonesian Unity Party (Partai Perindo).
