APINDO Central Kalimantan Chairman: Economic Census Data Provides a Roadmap for Business Conditions and Needs

PALANGKA RAYA — The Economic Census program is expected to help the government formulate policies that are responsive to public needs while supporting the growth and development of the business sector.
Chairman of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Leadership Council of the Indonesian Employers Association (DPP APINDO Kalteng), Frans Martinus, said data collected through the Economic Census could provide a clear mapping of business conditions and the needs of business actors.
“Such mapping will greatly support the business community, including the property sector. With sound regulations in place, businesses can gain easier access to financing through the banking sector,” he said recently.
He added that accurate data could also help businesses identify population groups in need of housing and other products. The availability of comprehensive data could further strengthen connections between businesses and supporting industries.
With better data, business owners would be able to identify, reach, and communicate more effectively with the various parties they need to support their operations. This, in turn, would allow business processes to run more efficiently and strategically.
Frans explained that when regulations are business-friendly, consumer demand is available, and access to financing and supporting industries is well established, businesses can increase their productivity and production capacity.
Such conditions would enable businesses to produce and market goods and services on a larger scale to meet the needs of the community.
Meanwhile, Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Palangka Raya, Amos Adam Residul, explained that the Economic Census is conducted by BPS every 10 years, specifically in years ending in the number six.
The census aims to collect comprehensive data on the structure and condition of Indonesia’s economy.
The data collection covers all business actors across Indonesia, ranging from micro and small enterprises to large-scale corporations.
According to Amos, the data is important not only for the public but also for Indonesia as a whole, as well as Central Kalimantan and Palangka Raya, to understand the current condition and development of economic activities.
“The government needs a comprehensive database of business actors. With accurate and comprehensive data, the government can formulate more targeted regulations to support business development, enabling entrepreneurs to improve their performance and expand their businesses more effectively,” he said.
