APINDO Strengthens MSME Skills and Capacity Through Innopreneurship Training for Ternate Civil Servants and Entrepreneurs

APINDO Strengthens MSME Skills and Capacity Through Innopreneurship Training for Ternate Civil Servants and Entrepreneurs

TERNATE, October 24, 2026 — The Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) held a training program titled “The SME’s Innopreneur Shifting: Empowering Innopreneur Genome” for civil servants and business owners in Ternate on Saturday (October 24, 2026).

The training featured APINDO Deputy Secretary-General Aditya Warman and trainer Tutut Handayani as speakers. Also in attendance were APINDO Fisheries and Livestock Affairs Chair Hendra Sugandhi, APINDO Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs representative Roy Arman, APINDO North Maluku Chairperson Ghazali, and APINDO East Java Chairperson Eddy Widjanarko.

Strengthening business leadership capacity is essential to improving the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) amid digital disruption, changing market behavior, and increasingly complex business competition. Operational capabilities alone are no longer sufficient. Entrepreneurs must also develop innovative mindsets, sharpen their ability to identify opportunities, manage risks effectively, and exercise adaptive leadership to ensure business sustainability and growth.

Through an innopreneurship approach, the training aims to help MSMEs transform from conventional businesses into enterprises capable of generating added value, developing new business models, and leveraging technology to expand market reach. This capacity-building initiative is also part of APINDO’s broader efforts to make MSMEs more productive, innovative, and competitive while strengthening the business sector’s contribution to economic growth and job creation.

In his presentation, Aditya Warman highlighted four key dimensions for developing innopreneurial capacity: toolset, skillset, mindset, and mental set. Together, these elements provide a foundation for business leaders to integrate technical capabilities, managerial skills, innovative thinking, and mental resilience in responding to change.

Under this approach, innovation goes beyond technology adoption and becomes an integral part of business strategy, encompassing planning, analysis, operations, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

For MSMEs, the transition to innopreneurship requires a fundamental shift in business management. Entrepreneurs must move beyond simply maintaining existing operations toward creating added value, developing products and services that respond to market needs, and building sustainable competitive advantages. The ability to identify opportunities, understand customer needs, use data to inform decisions, and develop growth strategies is increasingly important in navigating competition.

APINDO plays an important role in strengthening business capacity through competency development, broader access to knowledge and business networks, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders. As a representative of the business community, APINDO promotes an ecosystem that enables MSMEs to enhance their capabilities, foster innovation, and expand business opportunities.

These efforts are essential to ensuring that MSME development focuses not only on business survival but also on improving productivity, professionalizing management, and strengthening competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic marketplace.

Leadership development is another critical component of this process. MSME leaders need strategic thinking skills, the ability to solve complex problems, sound judgment in making informed decisions, and the capacity to build teams that can adapt to change.

The innopreneurship training also emphasized the importance of collaboration and communication in building business connectivity. By strengthening leadership capabilities and business networks, MSMEs are expected to develop productive partnerships, gain access to broader markets, and reinforce their positions within economic value chains.

APINDO remains committed to building a more resilient and competitive business sector through capacity development and sustained collaboration. With innovative leadership, stronger business capabilities, and a supportive business ecosystem, Indonesian MSMEs are expected to scale up, expand market access, create employment opportunities, and make an increasingly significant contribution to the national economy.
