APINDO Speaks Out on Investment Challenges in Sukabumi

SUKABUMI — A meeting of the Sukabumi Regency Tripartite Cooperation Institution (LKS Tripartit) has become a crucial moment for the sustainability of local businesses and the investment climate in the region.

The cross-sector meeting was held at the Sukabumi State Pavilion (Gedung Negara Pendopo Sukabumi), on Jalan Ahmad Yani in Warudoyong District, Sukabumi City. It was attended by regional leaders, heads of relevant government agencies, Regional Government Organizations (OPD), police representatives, and officials from the West Java Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Agency. The meeting was seen as a major step toward aligning labor protection with investment certainty.

At the strategic forum, themed “Tripartite Synergy to Support a Conducive Investment Climate and Labor Protection in Sukabumi Regency,” the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) Sukabumi Regency Board (DPK APINDO) openly outlined various challenges facing labor-intensive industries.

Chairman of DPK APINDO Sukabumi Sudarno, represented by Deputy Chairman I David FC Dharmadjaja, said the LKS Tripartit meeting provided a productive platform for business representatives to present the actual conditions and challenges they faced on the ground.

“Today's Sukabumi Regency Tripartite Cooperation Institution meeting is a major breakthrough. One of the institution's main duties and functions is to provide input to regional leaders and policymakers on employment issues,” David told Radar Sukabumi on Friday (October 23).

David explained that the business community had made the most of the forum to present a number of operational challenges affecting both existing industries and potential obstacles that new investors might face when entering Sukabumi Regency.

The concerns and key issues raised by APINDO received a positive response from government stakeholders. As a concrete demonstration of commitment, the regional government moved quickly to address the business community's concerns.

“Today, we were given the opportunity to present investment-related obstacles, both for existing businesses and prospective new investments. The response from policymakers was very positive. Within the next week, the Deputy Regent of Sukabumi has promised to convene a meeting with the relevant government agencies to seek solutions to the challenges we have raised,” he explained.

As a concrete and ongoing measure, APINDO is urging the Sukabumi Regency Government to establish a dedicated task force or special team focused on investment facilitation. Such a team is considered essential to overseeing the licensing process and making it faster, more transparent, and better integrated.

“We hope the government will establish a dedicated team to handle and assist existing business owners and industries, as well as prospective investors planning to invest in Sukabumi Regency. This would make it easier for businesses and investors to obtain the necessary permits and provide them with greater confidence and comfort in investing,” David emphasized.

Harmonious industrial relations among the government, employers represented by APINDO, and trade unions are essential to maintaining regional stability. Through open communication within the LKS Tripartit forum, regional economic growth is expected to accelerate.

“With strong synergy and sound tripartite industrial relations among the government, employers, and trade unions, businesses, industries, and investment in Sukabumi Regency can grow rapidly in the years ahead. This will directly contribute to higher economic growth and improve the welfare of the community, particularly in Sukabumi Regency,” he concluded.
