APINDO Holds Town Hall Meeting to Consolidate Advocacy on Employment Bill

The Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) held a Town Hall Meeting with the leadership of its Provincial Leadership Councils (DPP) from across Indonesia online on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).

The meeting served as an internal consolidation forum to provide updates on the latest developments in APINDO’s advocacy process concerning the Employment Bill, while also gathering aspirations and input from regional chapters.

The Town Hall Meeting was attended by APINDO Chairman Shinta W. Kamdani, Deputy Chairman Sanny Iskandar, Expert Council Member Anton J. Supit, Deputy Secretary General Lucia Karina, Chairman of the Employment Affairs Division Bob Azam, and members of the APINDO National Leadership Council (DPN) Employment Affairs Division.

Also attending were Joko Baroto, PMO for Employment Affairs; Rudolf Sauf, Executive Director; and Dimas Denis Permana, Director of Research and Communications. The meeting was also attended by the leadership of APINDO’s Provincial Leadership Councils from across Indonesia.

The agenda was opened by APINDO Chairman Shinta W. Kamdani. In her remarks, Shinta outlined the latest developments in APINDO’s coordination and communication with various stakeholders, including the House of Representatives (DPR), relevant ministries, and labor unions.

She emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and building a common understanding within APINDO regarding priority issues facing the business community throughout the regulatory discussion process.

During the discussion session, the Town Hall Meeting was conducted interactively, involving leaders of APINDO’s Provincial Leadership Councils from various regions. They shared perspectives, regional conditions, and challenges facing businesses as input to strengthen the advocacy process.

These inputs are considered essential to ensuring that the perspectives advanced by APINDO continue to reflect the realities faced by businesses across different regions.

The discussion also provided an opportunity to examine the implications of employment policies for business certainty, industrial relations, investment, and job creation.

By directly involving regional chapters, APINDO continues to strengthen coordination to ensure that input submitted during the discussion of the Employment Bill more comprehensively reflects the needs of the business community.

The Town Hall Meeting was closed by APINDO Chairman of the Employment Affairs Division, Bob Azam.

In his closing remarks, Bob emphasized the importance of directing advocacy efforts toward strengthening legal certainty and expanding employment opportunities. At the same time, efforts to improve workers’ welfare should continue through a balanced approach that strengthens purchasing power, productivity, and the sustainability of the business community.

Through the Town Hall Meeting, APINDO strengthened coordination between its National and Provincial Leadership Councils as part of its efforts to ensure organizational alignment in advocating for employment policies that support business certainty, job creation, and the sustainability of the business community in Indonesia.
