Kemnaker-APINDO Establish Cooperation in the Labor Sector

The government, through the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), continues to strengthen labor collaboration with the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO). One form of this collaboration is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kemnaker and APINDO on the Acceleration of the Implementation of Wage Structures and Scales, Pancasila Industrial Relations, Occupational Health and Safety, Job Vacancy Information, and Internships in Companies.

The MoU signing took place on the sidelines of the 33rd National Work and Consultation Meeting (Rakerkonas) of APINDO in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

“This is historic as it is the first of its kind. Hopefully, this MoU will serve as a fundamental foundation in the labor sector,” said Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah in a press statement received by InfoPublik on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Ida Fauziyah noted that there are many labor issues that cannot be resolved by the government alone. Therefore, this collaboration between the government and APINDO is expected to be one of the efforts to address several of these labor issues.

“If the government and APINDO can collaborate well, in a healthy and harmonious manner, it will open opportunities for business continuity and drive business progress, which in turn can foster economic growth and increase employment opportunities,” said Ida Fauziyah.

The Minister also highlighted that one of the issues that must continue to be collaborated on is the issue of internships. Internships in industries need to be continuously promoted and improved in both quality and quantity. “By increasing the quantity and quality of internships, many benefits can be gained for both the education and business sectors, particularly for students and prospective workers participating in internships,” concluded the Minister.
