Deli Serdang Regency Government and APINDO Strengthen Communication

DELI SERDANG — The Deli Serdang Regency Government is strengthening communication with the business community through a Coffee Morning and Business Dialogue held in collaboration with the Deli Serdang Regency Leadership Council (DPK) of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO). The event took place at the Cendana Hall, Deli Serdang Regent’s Office, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The event carried the theme “Proper Compliance, Healthy Business.” It was attended by Deli Serdang Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo, relevant regional government officials, DPK APINDO officials, and businesspeople from across Deli Serdang.
Lom Lom said the government and business community need to establish close communication to ensure that issues related to investment, licensing, and regulatory compliance can be addressed from the outset.
“The business community is one of the pillars and instruments contributing to the development of Deli Serdang. It contributes to regional revenue and creates employment opportunities,” Lom Lom said.
He said the government is prioritizing a preventive approach in guiding and supervising businesses. He acknowledged that some business activities still do not fully comply with licensing requirements, including production activities that exceed the capacity stipulated in their permits.
For this reason, he said direct communication with business operators is essential to ensure compliance before violations lead to enforcement measures. He stressed that addressing such issues is a shared responsibility.
“The government is required to carry out enforcement and uphold regulations, but naturally, we hope the approach remains friendly. We want to prevent problems before taking enforcement action,” he said.
In addition to compliance, the Deli Serdang Regency Government is also encouraging faster licensing services to provide greater certainty for businesses and investors.
“If a licensing process can be completed within one month or one and a half months, why should businesses have to wait six months? There are permits whose processing takes six months or even longer,” he said.
According to Lom Lom, fast and predictable public services need to go hand in hand with regulatory compliance by businesses. This, he said, would enable investment to grow, create more employment opportunities, and increase the business sector’s contribution to the regional economy.
Chairwoman of DPK APINDO Deli Serdang, Tetty Dolok Saribu, welcomed the forum. She said the coffee morning concept was designed as a relaxed discussion platform while still producing practical solutions for the business community.
“The coffee morning concept is serious yet relaxed, and it is also meaningful. So, it is not merely about sitting down over coffee without taking away anything from the discussion, particularly for our colleagues in the industrial sector,” she said.
Tetty said approximately 60 percent of APINDO Deli Serdang members attended the event. She added that APINDO Deli Serdang’s membership had increased from 48 companies in August 2025 to around 60 companies at present.
She emphasized that administrative and licensing facilitation must be accompanied by companies’ commitment to comply with applicable regulations. APINDO, she added, will continue to serve as a communication bridge between the government, employers, and workers, allowing various issues to be discussed and resolved through constructive dialogue.
“As Chairwoman of DPK APINDO Deli Serdang, I cannot act as a shield for colleagues who do not comply with regulations. I do not want to become a hero who arrives too late,” she said.
