APINDO Tangerang Calls for Long-Term Flood Mitigation Solutions
Tuesday, 07 April 2026
TIGARAKSA – The Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) of Tangerang Regency has urged the government to implement long-term solutions to address recurring flooding, citing its significant impact on the economic and industrial sectors.
APINDO Tangerang Chairman, Herry Rumawatine, stated that flooding has disrupted business operations and caused financial losses for many companies.
“Flooding clearly results in losses. Many companies have been affected, causing production disruptions,” he said on Tuesday (April 7, 2026).
Although comprehensive data on total losses has yet to be compiled, Herry emphasized that the most severe impact occurs when production machinery is damaged by floodwaters. Modern industrial equipment, which relies heavily on automation and computerized systems, is particularly vulnerable.
“If production machines—most of which are now computerized and automated—are damaged, the impact can be far-reaching. It can affect company revenues and even employee salaries,” he explained.
He therefore called on local authorities to act swiftly and prioritize sustainable flood management strategies to prevent recurring disruptions.
“We urge the government to deliver long-term flood solutions. The economic impact is very clear,” he added.
APINDO stressed that without comprehensive and sustainable mitigation measures, flooding will continue to pose a serious threat to industrial productivity and regional economic stability.
