69th Anniversary of East Kalimantan, APINDO Urges Acceleration of Transport Infrastructure

Samarinda — East Kalimantan Province marked its 69th anniversary on January 9, 2026. The occasion served as a moment of reflection as well as a reinforcement of collective commitment to drive East Kalimantan toward a “golden generation” future.

Chairman of the East Kalimantan Provincial Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), Dr. Abriantinus, MA, expressed hope that both the central and provincial governments would give serious attention to accelerating infrastructure development, particularly in the transportation sector.

According to him, the availability of adequate infrastructure—especially land transportation networks and airports—is a key factor in improving connectivity among regencies and cities across East Kalimantan.

“We hope that the development of transportation infrastructure, both roads and airports, will be prioritized to ensure smoother interregional connectivity,” Abriantinus said on Friday, January 9, 2026.

He emphasized that strong connectivity would open opportunities for the growth of new economic centers in various regions. Integrated infrastructure, he added, would also help reduce logistics costs and enhance regional competitiveness.

Abriantinus noted that at 69 years of age, East Kalimantan possesses significant potential to transform into an advanced and sustainable province, particularly given its strategic role as a supporting region for Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara (IKN).

“With strong infrastructure support and synergy between the government and the business community, East Kalimantan is optimistic about realizing equitable and inclusive development toward a golden generation,” he concluded.
