Training on Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at the Workplace
Friday, 17 March 2023The Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO) commit to build a safe workplace and free from sexual harassment as well violence. In line with various regulations, especially in the field of manpower, APINDO owns its principle that a workplace where is free from harassment and acts of sexual violence is one of the requirements for building an equal and non-discriminatory environment.
Through the APINDO's commitment to creating a world of work that is safe and free from acts of sexual violence, on 7 December 2022, in collaboration with the ILO Jakarta Office, the Guidelines for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Harassment & Violence at the Workplace have been launched. Somehow, the organization sees about the occurrence of sexual violence crimes (TPKS) at the workplace.
Hence, the guidebook is also equipped with methods and procedures for handling TPKS.
Following up on these guidelines, DPN APINDO considers that it necessary to conduct a training to equip management with responsibility for dealing with issues of sexual violence at the workplace. This training fulfilled the implementation of the above Guidelines.
On Friday, March 17th 2023, Training on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at the Workplace was held in collaboration with and supported by PT. HM Sampoerna, Tbk. The participants heard the best practices for handling and preventing sexual violence at the workplace implemented within PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. The event was started by the Program Coordinator, The Head of the APINDO Regulatory and Institutional Committee, Myra M. Hanartani, then PT. HM Sampoerna, Tbk. which is represented by The Head of Industrial and Employee Relations of PT. HM Sampoerna, Tbk, Matheus Dwi Sekardianto, to deliver his remarks.
Presentation and discussion of best practices mentioned about the strategies for preventing and handling sexual violence at the workplace were delivered in two separate sessions by Melissa Sim, Susanto Haryono and Tissy Anandita.
This training emphasized on how to create a work environment that is zero tolerance for acts of violence and sexual harassment, provide a safe and comfortable space for victims so that the victims feel physically and mentally recovered, and provide sanctions for perpetrators of sexual violence at the workplace.
