Chairman of the East Kalimantan APINDO Holds Discussion with Indigenous Leaders in Malinau

The Chairman of the East Kalimantan Regional Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO), Dr. Abriantinus, M.A, held a discussion with Dayak indigenous leaders in several villages in Malinau Regency. This meeting aimed to find the best solutions regarding land disputes between indigenous communities and companies operating in the region.

 

In an open and constructive discussion, both parties addressed various issues related to land ownership, customary rights, and the social and economic impacts of corporate activities on indigenous territories. The Chairman of East Kalimantan APINDO, who is also a prominent Dayak community leader, emphasized the importance of finding a middle ground that not only benefits businesses but also ensures the welfare and rights of indigenous communities remain protected.

 

"We aim to foster a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship between the community and businesses. Through dialogues like this, we hope to find the best and fairest solutions for all parties involved," said Abriantinus, Chairman of East Kalimantan APINDO, during the meeting.

 

The attending indigenous leaders expressed their aspirations and hopes that companies would show greater respect for local wisdom and make tangible contributions to village development. They also stressed the need for more intensive communication between the community and companies to prevent future conflicts.

 

This discussion marked an initial step towards fostering better cooperation between the business sector and indigenous communities in Malinau. With mutual understanding, it is hoped that land disputes can be resolved peacefully and lead to sustainable solutions for the advancement and welfare of the people in Malinau Regency.
