Batam – The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) of the Riau Islands (Kepri) held the Apindo Kepri Golf Tournament at Palm Spring Golf Club, Batam, on Saturday (October 11). The sports and tourism event brought together around 200 golfers from various regions across Indonesia, along with several international participants.
The tournament featured prizes worth billions of rupiah, including a house, two electric cars, and hundreds of millions in cash for hole-in-one winners. In addition, organizers prepared lucky draw prizes totaling hundreds of millions of rupiah.
The event was officially opened by Eddy Hussy, Vice Chairman of the Apindo National Board (DPN), who performed the ceremonial tee-off alongside Stanly Rocky (Chairman of Apindo Kepri), Rafki Rasyid (Chairman of Apindo Batam), and representatives from sponsor Mataka. Following the opening ceremony, tee-off began at 12:30 PM (WIB).
In his remarks, Eddy Hussy emphasized that the tournament was not only a sports competition but also a platform to strengthen ties among business leaders and promote Batam’s tourism sector. “We extend our gratitude to all golfers, sponsors, and everyone who contributed to making this event a success,” he said.
The festivities continued into the evening with a gala dinner, featuring live band performances, a DJ set, and a fire juggling show. During the dinner, the winners were announced and lucky draw prizes were presented.
Beyond the competition, the tournament also carried a charitable spirit. Participants and Apindo collectively donated Rp20 million to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Batam, which was received directly by Sri Soedarsono, Chairperson of PMI Batam.
Apindo Kepri Chairman Stanly Rocky expressed his appreciation to all participants and partners. “This event proves that the spirit of collaboration among entrepreneurs in the Riau Islands remains strong and continues to bring positive impact to the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Apindo Batam Chairman Rafki Rasyid added that the tournament was designed to foster camaraderie and strengthen business networking. “This golf tournament is not just about sports, but also about generating economic impact, particularly for the tourism, hotel, and restaurant sectors. Apindo remains committed to driving Batam’s economic growth across multiple industries,” he concluded.
