Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (APINDO) West Sumatra Distributes 500 Ramadan Aid Packages to Flood and Landslide Victims in Agam

Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (APINDO) West Sumatra Distributes 500 Ramadan Aid Packages to Flood and Landslide Victims in Agam

AGAM – A total of 500 Ramadan aid packages were distributed to residents affected by floods and landslides in Palembayan Subdistrict, Agam Regency, on Saturday (February 14, 2026).

The assistance was delivered by the West Sumatra Provincial Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) as a demonstration of the business community’s solidarity ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

The aid originated from APINDO’s National Board (DPN) and was handed over directly by APINDO West Sumatra Vice Chairman Mhd Nazir Fahmi, representing DPP Chairwoman Rina Pangeran.

The distribution took place at Masjid Nurul Huda Koto Alam in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, which served as the central distribution point for residents from three beneficiary nagari (villages).

“Ramadan is a moment for sharing and strengthening solidarity. We hope this assistance can ease the burden of our brothers and sisters affected by floods and landslides,” said Mhd Nazir Fahmi during the handover, accompanied by Candrianto, another APINDO West Sumatra board member.

Of the 500 packages distributed, 200 were allocated to Nagari Salareh Aia, 200 to Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, and 100 to Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, based on verified beneficiary data.

Each package contained essential goods and ready-to-consume food items, including sugar, canned bread, syrup, and other basic food supplies needed by residents ahead of Ramadan.

Since after the midday (zuhur) prayer, residents were seen attending the distribution process in an orderly and enthusiastic manner. The event was supported by subdistrict and nagari officials to ensure smooth and targeted distribution.

Recent floods and landslides in several areas of Palembayan Subdistrict caused damage to homes and agricultural land, significantly disrupting residents’ economic activities in recent weeks.

The situation has left many families in need of logistical support to meet daily necessities, particularly ahead of Ramadan, when food demand typically increases.

APINDO West Sumatra reaffirmed that the business sector not only serves as an economic driver but also bears social responsibility to stand alongside communities during times of disaster.

“Solidarity is our strength. The business community must help ensure that the wheels of life keep turning, especially for those affected,” Mhd Nazir Fahmi added.

Wali Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, Ahmad Fauzi, expressed appreciation and gratitude for the assistance provided to his residents. He emphasized the importance of continued synergy between the business sector, government, and local communities to accelerate and equalize post-disaster recovery efforts.

The social initiative was also supported by Pangeran Beach Hotel, Padang Ekspres, Zataka, Aiga, Witbox, Dian Optical, and Yayasan Senarai as part of cross-sector collaboration to assist affected communities.
