Makassar – The Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO) of South Sulawesi is distributing aid packages to 1,000 orphaned children across dozens of orphanages every day throughout Ramadan 1446 Hijri/2025 AD.
APINDO South Sulawesi Chairman Suhardi, in Makassar on Monday, stated that in addition to distributing aid packages to orphaned children in orphanages, the organization will also hold an iftar gathering with them.
"Every year, we organize APINDO’s Ramadan charity activities. This marks our fourth year. This year, we are holding the event in the parking lot of PT Telkom, as Telkom is also hosting an MSME affordable market, so we decided to combine our Ramadan Charity and Bazaar," he said.
Suhardi mentioned that he met with Makassar Mayor Munafri Arifuddin to discuss the execution of APINDO South Sulawesi’s Ramadan Charity, now in its fourth year.
The event is being held at the PT Telkom Makassar parking lot, coinciding with Telkom’s MSME Affordable Market.
Suhardi further explained that in its fourth year, APINDO’s Ramadan Charity consists of four main activities: an affordable market aimed at helping the community access essential goods at lower prices, a religious competition involving various groups, an iftar gathering with orphanage children, and an MSME bazaar to empower local entrepreneurs.
APINDO South Sulawesi also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting orphaned children. Every year, the organization distributes a total of 1,000 aid packages, which are delivered nightly on a rotating basis throughout Ramadan.
"Each year, we share 1,000 aid packages with orphanages, distributing them on a rotating basis every night," Suhardi stated.
As part of the event, APINDO South Sulawesi has also invited the Mayor of Makassar to attend one of the iftar gatherings.
Makassar Mayor Munafri Arifuddin welcomed APINDO South Sulawesi’s initiative, recognizing it as a tangible expression of corporate social responsibility, especially during Ramadan.
The Makassar city government continues to support social initiatives that provide direct benefits to the community.
"This kind of activity is very positive and should be emulated. We are pleased that more affordable markets are being held during Ramadan, as they serve as an intervention to help curb inflation," the mayor stated.
