The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) welcomes the government's desire to invite all stakeholders to sit together and discuss the issue of Over Dimension Overload (ODOL) trucks. Carmelita Hartoto, Head of Transportation and Logistics at Apindo, said this indicates the government's seriousness in resolving the matter.
"That is a good step. It means that the government is serious about resolving safety issues," she said.
She also hopes that Apindo will be invited to the discussions regarding the ODOL issue. According to her, discussions on ODOL so far have only been conducted with the Ministry of Transportation and have never involved other relevant parties. "Therefore, we are very positive about the government's intention to have all stakeholders sit together to discuss it," she said.
She acknowledged that Apindo already has a roadmap to be presented to the government when discussing ODOL. "We will present the roadmap we have prepared with academics if there is a joint discussion with stakeholders," she said.
Previously, the Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono requested the DPR-RI Commission V to involve all relevant institutions in resolving the ODOL issue. This aims to ensure that no parties feel disadvantaged when Zero ODOL is implemented.
