APINDO Bangka Belitung Says Fuel Price Hike Hits Industry Hardest

BANGKA — The Regional Board of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) in Bangka Belitung (Babel) has assessed that the impact of fuel price adjustments will be most strongly felt in the industrial sector.

DPD APINDO Babel Chair Nuradi Wicaksono responded to the government’s policy on fuel price adjustments, noting that increases in non-subsidized fuel prices are the primary factor affecting company operations across the region.

“The most significant impact is indeed on the industrial sector, particularly due to reliance on non-subsidized fuel. However, for workers, the impact is not expected to be too severe, as the government continues to ensure the availability of subsidized fuel at stable prices,” Nuradi said on Sunday (April 19, 2026).

In response to these energy-related challenges, APINDO Babel has begun promoting efficiency measures to companies across the province.

One of the key initiatives is encouraging the implementation of Work From Home (WFH) policies for sectors where remote work is feasible.

“We recommend that companies, particularly those not directly involved in public services, begin implementing WFH at least one day per week. This is a concrete step to reduce energy consumption and mobility amid rising fuel prices,” he explained.

The WFH approach is also aligned with broader government recommendations aimed at reducing fuel usage and easing operational burdens.

APINDO Babel emphasized that the current focus extends beyond fuel price issues alone, toward comprehensive energy management strategies to ensure business continuity without placing excessive strain on workers.

“These measures are expected to help maintain regional economic stability while ensuring the sustainability of businesses in Bangka Belitung following fuel price adjustments,” he concluded.
