APINDO Holds Strategic Meeting with Jakarta Governor: Strengthening Synergy to Boost Economic Growth and Job Creation

Jakarta, June 11, 2025 – The Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO) held a strategic meeting with the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, on Wednesday at Jakarta City Hall. The meeting aimed to foster stronger collaboration between the business community and the provincial government to support economic growth and sustainable job creation.

During the meeting, APINDO Chairperson Shinta W. Kamdani outlined the organization's role and vision, shared insights on macroeconomic trends, and highlighted current challenges faced by businesses—particularly those related to employment in the face of ongoing economic uncertainties.

“APINDO is committed to being a strategic partner of the government in promoting sustainable employment and enhancing MSME competitiveness through initiatives such as the UMKM Merdeka program. We believe that strong collaboration with regional governments like DKI Jakarta is key to addressing the challenges of urban economies,” Shinta stated.

The discussion also addressed the significant impact of layoffs across various industrial sectors. Maulana Yusran, APINDO’s Head of Tourism Affairs, emphasized that the hospitality and tourism sectors remain under pressure due to government budget cuts in goods and services spending, which has adversely affected MSMEs. He urged the Jakarta Provincial Government to host more international events to stimulate the city’s economy and to develop Jakarta as a center for Betawi culinary arts and cultural promotion.

Solihin, Chair of the Jakarta Provincial Board of APINDO (DPP APINDO DKI Jakarta), reaffirmed APINDO Jakarta’s readiness to support government policies that favor business sustainability and social equity—particularly in areas such as labor issues, ease of doing business, urbanization, and inclusive economic access.

Governor Pramono Anung welcomed the partnership with the business sector, stating, “Jakarta’s current economic conditions demand real breakthroughs. We are eager to build strong relationships with business actors because the government cannot work alone.”

The Governor also shared several recent initiatives by the Jakarta Provincial Government, including adjustments to property value tax (NJOP), 24-hour access to public parks, museums, and libraries, as well as plans to keep select shopping centers open around the clock. Additionally, he highlighted the launch of new TransJakarta routes (Blok M – Alam Sutera, Blok M – PIK, and Blok M – Bogor), which have received strong public enthusiasm. Other efforts include optimizing parking management and improving waste handling.

APINDO and the Jakarta Provincial Government expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening collaboration in building a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable business ecosystem—positioning Jakarta to thrive amid global economic shifts.

Joining the APINDO Chairperson at the meeting were: Ronald Walla (Head of MSMEs and Cooperatives), Maulana Yusran (Head of Tourism), Achmad Widjaya (Chair of the Committee on Chemicals, Petrochemicals, and Oil & Gas under the Manufacturing Division), Lany Harijanti (Chair of the Sustainability Committee under MSMEs and Cooperatives), Imron Natsir (Chair of the Migrant Committee under Labor Affairs), Solihin (Chair of DPP APINDO DKI Jakarta), Nurjaman (Vice Chair for Labor/Industrial Relations, DPP APINDO DKI Jakarta), and Retno Kusumayanti (Treasurer of DPP APINDO DKI Jakarta, representing organizational and membership concerns).
