Boosting Productivity Through Worker Protection, Apindo North Sumatra Holds Health Insurance Awareness Seminar
Thursday, 09 October 2025
Medan – The Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo) of North Sumatra held a seminar titled “Enhancing Employee Productivity Through Health Social Security” at the Function Room of Centre Point Mall Medan on Thursday (October 9, 2025).
The event featured the Supervisory Board of BPJS Kesehatan (Indonesia’s National Health Insurance Agency), who provided an in-depth explanation of the implementation and recent updates to the National Health Insurance (JKN) program.
The seminar drew strong interest, attended by around 80 to 100 representatives of employers and workers from various regions across North Sumatra.
Chairman of Apindo North Sumatra, Haposan Sialagan, expressed that the presence of the BPJS Kesehatan Supervisory Board was an honor for the organization.
“We are truly honored by the direct participation of the BPJS Kesehatan Supervisory Board. This is an important moment for the business community to understand the crucial role of health insurance in improving employee productivity,” said Haposan.
He added that such activities should become a regular agenda, as many employers need a forum for open dialogue to share feedback and suggestions on social security policies.
“There may have been policies that are not yet fully effective. Through forums like this, employers can directly voice their aspirations to improve service systems,” he continued.
Inda Deryanne Hasman, a member of the BPJS Kesehatan Supervisory Board representing employers for the 2021–2026 term, attended as the main speaker. She emphasized the importance of strengthening understanding among both employers and employees regarding the health insurance system.
“Apindo North Sumatra’s initiative is commendable, and we are delighted to see such great enthusiasm from participants. It shows that information about health insurance is highly needed,” said Inda.
She also highlighted that employers must fully understand their responsibilities in providing health coverage for workers.
“We presented comprehensive information about the health insurance program, including the latest updates. Employers should clearly understand their roles so that employee health protection can be implemented effectively,” she explained.
During the session, BPJS Kesehatan also presented how improving service quality can directly boost workforce productivity.
According to Inda, when employees receive proper and easily accessible healthcare services, their attendance and performance naturally improve.
“Companies will directly feel the benefits. Productivity increases because employees feel protected and can focus better on their work,” she noted.
The event was part of Apindo North Sumatra’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration between the business sector and social security institutions.
In addition to Apindo’s board members, the seminar was attended by representatives from district and city-level business associations across North Sumatra, as well as several company representatives.
Through this initiative, Apindo hopes to build continuous synergy with BPJS Kesehatan to further strengthen Indonesia’s social security system and provide tangible benefits for both employers and workers.
