Promoting Quality Independent Apprenticeships to Achieve Responsible Business Practices
Tuesday, 01 October 2024Under the Government of Japan support, the ILO implement two interlinked projects in the electronics sector in Indonesia: The “Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Supply Chains” (RISSC) project and The Skills Development and Responsible Business for Transition project (METI-Skills).
Using a sectoral supply chains approach, both projects are supporting tripartite constituents and key industry stakeholders to foster a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable electronics supply chain through improvements to decent work, responsible business conduct, and skills development.
The main goal of the webinar series is to boost the uptake and adoption of responsible business conduct (RBC) in key industries in Indonesia, particularly the electronics and wider manufacturing sectors, as part of a wider commitment to decent work and human capital development.
In particular, the webinar series will aim to:
(a) improve awareness and understanding of the importance of responsible business conduct (RBC), in both theory and practice, in key sectors like electronics; and
(b) discuss ways stakeholders can work together to scale up the application of RBC in these sectors and across the Indonesian business landscape and
(c) identify the needs for a skilled labor force and discuss effective skills development measures to achieve a workforce capable of supporting and sustaining RBC practices.
The fourth episode, "Promoting Quality Independent Apprenticeships to Achieve Responsible Business Practices" will provide deeper insights into the importance of quality apprenticeships in line with ILO recommendations by reviewing successful practices in industries that implement responsible business practices.
